There are 6 Naturopathic Principles which will be outlined here over the next few months, those include:
- “First Do No Harm” (Primum Non Nocere)
- “Treat the Whole Person” (Tolle Totum)
- “Identify and Treat the Causes” (Tolle Causam)
- “Healing Power of Nature” (Vis Medicatrix Naturae)
- “Doctor as Teacher” (Docere)
- “Prevention” (Praevenire)
A medley of experiences has brought me to my commitment to the principles of naturopathic medicine. Pushes and nudges continue to remind me why it’s so important for me to be a part of this work. The world is changing, patients are inquiring, seeking long-term solutions without all the side effects of pharmaceuticals for their chronic ailments. It seems to me that there’s a great need for healers, for those of us with an interest in increasing world-wide vitality. It is at this juxtaposition that I stand armed with the naturopathic principles—ready for the healing to commence and committed to working toward it. As a naturopathic physician I go forward centered and grounded to work in partnership with my patients as they advocate for themselves. Thereby, I am dedicated to a thriving global health in the future. To me, that commitment means going above and beyond to assist those who ask for assistance while holding space for myself to replenish my cup as well.
